The WSB Group is currently erecting its first wind farm in Silesia. Presumably from June next year on 15 REpower turbines with a hub height of 80m and a rated power of 2.05 MW each will produce eco-friendly electricity close to the city of Opole.
In 2008 the Dresden based project development company has already established a 100% subsidiary in Poland. After two years of market research and land and estate acquisition, this year, the company has developed a 30 MW project ready for construction. The site approximately 50 km south of Opole offers ideal conditions: “Continuous and high wind speeds at hub height as well as broad plains promise efficient electricity generation“, explains Peter Müller, managing director of WSB Neue Energien GmbH.
The project is financed by equity capital and a PKO bank loan. From planning, over realisation until commissioning, more than 45 million Euros will be invested in the wind farm. Thanks to excellent contacts to the local energy supplier a supply contract for electricity and green certificates could be concluded for a term of 15 years. Thus, remuneration for the electricity fed-in is fully secured.
Construction works have started already: access roads are finished and the first two wind turbines have been erected completely. The third REpower turbine is currently being constructed. If works continue according to plan, from June 2011 on the 15 turbines will feed in environmentally sound electricity into the power supply grid via the local voltage transformation substation.
„The planned wind farm will presumably produce 65 GWh per year. With this amount of energy nearly 41,000 households can be supplied – this corresponds to approximately two-thirds of the households of Opole“, adds Mr Müller.
The WB Group presents itself from 04.04.2011 until 08.04.2011 at the Hannover Trade Fair at its stand in hall 27, J30.
