History 1997
Achim DornerEstablished in 1997 as a visionary idea of Andreas Dorner and his father Achim Dorner, WSB advanced considerably until today. The small Dresden planning office for solar plants turned into one of Germany’s leading wind energy companies. The two entrepreneurs gained first experience in the field of renewable energies in their own planning office for solar plants which was already set up in 1996.

When Andreas and Achim Dorner entered the wind energy sector, this industry was still in its infancy. Only few months after the planning office for wind farms had been launched, the first five Vestas V-44 turbines were producing clean power in Saxony – in 1997 a true pioneer work.

Not only innovation and courage have always been characteristic for the growth of the group but also realistic forecasts and well considered decisions. Expansion plans will not be implemented until the risk of a new market entrance is calculable and we feel certain that created jobs can be staffed in the long run. This strategy ensured a stable growth of the company and avoided bad planning. Bearing in mind the success of this strategy, we will pursue it in the future.

2001

The first 50 million Euros have been invested. The 52 wind turbines planned by then had been installed according to plan.

WSB enters the international market. In France, the first affiliate – VSB energies nouvelles – is established. Today, there are 14 employees in France spread on three planning offices.

2002

By taking over the Czech wind power company WINDTEX s.r.o., WSB gains ground on the Czech market. The first project ‘U tri Panu’ with 3 ENERCON E-70 and 6 MW power output got access to the grid in 2006.

2003

WSB sets up its own sales branch with 3 employees. Among others, a total of 15 funds had been issued by 2006. Moreover, 53 wind turbines adding up to 83 MW were sold to investors.

2004

The investment volume attains 150 million Euros. Until today, 150 million Euros have been added. By 2008, a total of 183 wind turbines was build. This corresponds to the power consumption of all inhabitants of a large city like Hannover.

2009

2007

A big step forward is taken – WSB becomes a group. The creation of the WSB Neue Energien GmbH as holding company of the operative businesses is restructuring the enterprise. Hence, it becomes easier to decide on strategic matters and to act for the purpose of the entire group.

2009

WSB goes international. After having successfully established affiliates in France and the Czech Republic, further project companies are set up in Europe. Poland, Romania and Greece are promising enormous growth opportunity – not only in the wind but also in the photovoltaic sector.

2010

‘Now the sector has developed from having just a few enthusiasts to being a global market for renewable energies. Economic experts, finance professionals and high tech have revolutionised the worldwide energy market.

The sector remains interesting and new challenges await. The idea of a decentralised energy market with endless energy sources available is still with us. WSB Neue Energien has accompanied these developments and played its part here.’
